Freddie chosen for the North of England Barbarians’ team
The 1st XV had a great rugby season last term, winning 9 from 12 matches and reaching the final of the Norfolk County Cup competition. During the term five players were picked to represent the Midlands Barbarians’ team at U11 and U13 level.
One player, Freddie Ruffell, has made it through to the next phase and has been asked to play scrum-half for the North of England Barbarians against the South of England Barbarians. Following this, if he is again selected, it will be to represent the full England Barbarians side which will tour Ireland. Well done to all of those Beeston hall players who experienced representative rugby and good luck to Freddie in the forthcoming match on the 7th February at Rugby School.
Small Schools’ Sevens
In other Rugby news, Beeston Hall continues to organise the IAPS Small Schools’ Sevens tournament held at Oundle on the 21st March. Twenty-four schools will be competing on the day to win the Cup, Plate or Salver. The event is international and attracts teams from England, Scotland and Jersey. The Sevens rugby format is very different to the fifteen-a-side game and rewards skill and ambition.
Beeston Hall will again enter a team which gives pupils in the school a chance to experience a diverse sporting plan, including this term, Hockey, Netball, Cross Country, Fencing, Shooting, Basketball, Cricket, Karate and more.
