Our Community

An important aspect of a Beeston education is to foster an awareness of those less fortunate than ourselves and to encourage pupils to become helpful and caring members of the community. Everyone is actively encouraged to participate in projects for the benefit of others and to raise money to help those in need.

Our children engage with local issues, such as the Cromer District Food Bank, and more international issues, such as Singing for Syrians. Their first-hand experience of the impact they can have on those charitable causes, helps the children develop a sense of moral and social responsibility.

We welcome representatives from a range of charities each year to contribute to assemblies and the PSHEE programme. Our hope is that, through their exposure to a range of activities and causes, our children will develop a sense of the type and scale of need that exists in the wider world.

We cast our net wide, going out to the community with our music performances and productions, and inviting the local community in to school for literary events, theatre productions, sports coaching and tournaments. Visitors often notice the open-hearted nature of our children, when they are welcomed at Beeston to charity fashion shows, concerts, fetes, and guest speaker events.

Did you know?

Over the last 10 years we have raised over £80,000 to support over 60 charities, ranging from Nelson’s Journey (a local charity for bereaved children), West Runton Scouts and About With Friends, Cromer to Farm Africa,  East African Playgrounds, Street Child and The Nook – East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.

Pupils make a significant contribution to the school and wider community. They are keen to take on responsibility, and enthusiastically support charities and community groups.
